A Salute to Vietnam Veterans

Aug
22

August 16, 2010

Thirty five years ago, Vietnam Veterans returned home from an unpopular war without the respect that our nation and our citizens afford those men and women returning today from Iraq and Afghanistan.

American Veterans, regardless of where they fight, risk their lives for the people of the United States. So, why have many Vietnam Veterans been treated disrespectfully, or with disregard? The politics of the Vietnam Conflict were beyond the responsibility of soldiers, nurses and countless others who served their country in Vietnam.

Although we can not change the past, what we can do is honor the brave men and women that defended our freedom today!

Vets suspect Agent Orange dangers passed down to kids

Bobbie and Philip Morris have never heard their daughter speak.

Born with diseases that baffled her doctors, Dara Rae Morris has lived for 37 years in silence. Mentally and physically challenged, she has three leaks in her heart.

“She doesn’t say ‘I love you’ or ‘Mom and Dad,’ but she knows …” Bobbie Morris said, her voice trailing off.

Dara Rae Morris spent the first 15 years of her life mostly hospitalized, undergoing open heart surgery and other procedures. During a hospital visit last fall, doctors found more leaks in her heart and told her parents they believe that fixing them would be too much for her to endure.

Despite War Wounds, 3 US Vets Climb Kilimanjaro

Three U.S. war veterans who lost their legs in Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq, have hiked, crawled and clawed their way to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro atop five prosthetic legs and only one good leg among them.

The trio took six days to climb Africa’s tallest mountain, 19,340 feet high, as part of the Warfighter Sports Challenge, a series of extreme sports events for permanently disabled veterans. They topped Kilimanjaro in Tanzania over the weekend and scrambled down — what some call the toughest part, especially on prosthetics — on Wednesday.

Why?
“Why” is a question, that when asked, is almost an immediate annoyance to the
person it is posed to. Children annoy their parents with this question, as they
seek to gather knowledge about the world about them. It is frustrating to
parents. But, it is a question that when asked of elected officials and those
seeking to destroy America, it becomes a weapon for those seeking to save the
republic. Do not bother to ask these clowns “where” they get the authority to do
the things they do, for you will get one of two answers, in various forms; you will
be told ’the Constitution allows for it’ or you will hear, ’from the people we
represent’. Stand up and ask these clowns “why” and don’t let them off of the
hook. Here are just a few samples for town halls, phone calls, emails, faxes and
letters:
Why do you think we should have government healthcare?
Why do you think that?
Why do you believe that taxes will grow the economy?
Why do you believe that?
Why are you allowing the government to grow so big?
Why do you think the government should be so big?
Why do you believe that a minority of private sector employees can support a
majority of public employees?
Why do you believe socialism will succeed here, when it has failed everywhere
else, no matter how many people the government kills to try and make it work?
Why do you support funding eugenics and racism?
No, seriously, why do you support killing minorities through eugenics?
Why are you funding terrorism and the killing of Americans by funding Hamas
and Pakistan?
Why are you running away?
And, one last question for them:
Why haven’t you filed articles of impeachment against Obama?
Why are you ignoring your oath to support and defend the Constitution and not
filing articles of impeachment against the president?
Why not give it a try yourself? Come up with some on your own. It is fun to
watch the elected officials squirm in the light of the question, particularly when
asked in public settings. But, you must be prepared to ask follow up questions
when they attempt to spin their way out of answering. I have several follow up
questions that I prefer:
Why didn’t you answer my question?
Why is it that your actions do not match your words?
Why do you want to change America?
Why are you dodging the issues?
Be relentless. Do not back down. And, above all, “act as if”. Act as if you are the
inquisitor. Act as if you are owed an answer. Act as if you have a right to know,
for you do. And, act as if they work for you, because they do.
In keeping with the spirit of “why” I have some questions for those of you who
view yourself as patriots, as Americans, as someone fighting for freedom:
Why is it that freedom fighters in Iran are still in the streets being beat and shot,
but you won’t come outside and protest?
Why is it that our founders went to war, shot people, over a tax on a beverage,
and you won’t protest in the streets?
Why is it that you believe if you go out three to five days a year at Tea Party
events, the government will listen?
Why are you not out in the streets during rush hour, blocking traffic, failing to go
to work, on a national strike? Why are you afraid of the government? The
government should be afraid of you.
When your children, grand children and great grand children are slaves to the
nation state, and Generalissimo Obama is hailed in the history books as the great
savior of the global government, what will you tell your family when they ask you,
“Why didn’t you do more to keep us free?”
Why?

Muslim Day at Six Flags

Jul
28

I received the following email today from a good friend informing me that Six Flags will be having a Muslim Day scheduled on 9/12. By now I am sure you are all aware of the mega mosque being erected in New York. It is no coincidence that it is being built at ground zero. Historically, the Muslim community builds mosques on the sites of destroyed landmarks or converts existing religious structures. It is a reminder to the conquered that they are expected to submit to Muslim authority. (Some references are provided in the comments).

Below, you will find a letter from a good friend who has brought another ‘gesture’ toward the Muslim community to my attention. We need to speak out about this kind of thing while we can. Businesses understand profit and loss above all else, so we need to make the people at Six Flags understand that they will loose business if they choose to support a Muslim Day at their parks.
Once again, thanks for your patience. If you can take action on this, I would appreciate it.
Have a good day,
Frances

Dear Friends and Family:

Today I learned on the Six Flags website that they have scheduled a special “Muslim Day” at Six Flags on September 12, 2010.  Call me paranoid (I know you do) or old fashioned, but based on my understanding of Muslim tactics for conquest, having the Iconic American theme park schedule a day honoring Muslims on this sacred day of mourning is the equivalent of building a 13-story Muslim Community Center and Mosque just yards from Ground Zero in NYC (oh yeah, they’re trying to do that too!).  It’s gloating.  It’s rubbing our noses in their smug insolence.  And for the American companies and officials who allow it, its un-American!

I have sent the email below to Six Flags Special Events staff (SFGAMspecialevents@sixflags.com), and have called the President of Six Flags (contact info below)

Park Information (301) 249-1500

If you are so moved, please share this email with others and join me in letting Six Flags know that this event is an affront that we will not tolerate.  If you want to use my email below, feel free to make any changes that suit your sensibilities.

Thank you and God Bless America.

Dear John Winkler;

According to your website you have set aside September 12, 2010 as a special day for Muslims at Six Flags.

First, I am absolutely stunned that your staff is so insensitive that you would schedule this kind of event on the day of mourning for the victims of the 9/11 Terrorist attacks.  You may recall that it was Muslims who killed 3000 innocent Americans and destroyed iconic American architecture – the very symbols of American greatness in the world.

I strongly object to this event.  Do not think for a moment that the significance of its timing is lost on Muslims around the globe; or seen as a mere scheduling coincidence to the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), which is nothing more than a front group for the Muslim Brotherhood that also embraces Hezbollah, Hamas, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.

By Six Flags’ honoring Islam in this way on this day, your company is:

  • Validating the attacks of September 11;
  • Exalting a religion that demands the conversion or slaughter of “infidels;” (That’s you and me).
  • Teaches “peaceful” Muslims to lie to and deceitfully “befriend” infidels in order to thrive while in the minority, so that they may impose the horrors of Sharia Law on their friendly hosts once their numbers are large enough; (Check Western Europe for the latter part of this trend).
  • The ruthlessly expansionistic, despotic political ideology that has as its central goal, the annihilation of Jews the nation of Israel and the imposition of a global Caliphate to  impose a world-wide Muslim Theocratic dictatorship similar to what now controls Iran.

Whether or not you are aware of it, scheduling this event on this day is not only an ideological victory for the worst in Islam, but is tantamount to inviting the same Muslims who danced in jubilation on September 12, 2001 to spit on the graves of the innocents whose deaths they rejoiced.

If you let this event go forward, you are a disgrace to all Americans, and I will do every lawful thing in my power to make sure you regret the decision for the rest of your life.

War sees no warrior color, sex, or ethnic background – wars only sees red blood shed by our heroes for our freedoms.
I Am An American
That’s the way most of us put it just matter of factly
They are plain words those four.
You could write them on your thumbnail
Or you could pen the right across a clear autumm sky
But remember too that they are more than words
They are a way of life
So when ever you speak them, speak them firmly
Speak Them Proudly
Speak Them Gratefully
I AM AN AMERICAN

Slavery–It’s Back In Fashion! What Are You Prepared To Do About It?

Jul

Hello Folks:

I’ve been working on other projects recently, one of which is a major
redesign for the blog page at the Go-Galt site — a slow-going work in
progress, due to other commitments. Consequently, I have not been making
regular article updates for the past couple of months. I hope to get back
to frequent postings later this summer.

However, an important new piece of legislation was recently introduced in
the House by Charles Rangel which, if passed, will institute a mandatory
two-year conscription for all U.S. citizens between the ages of 18 and 42,
requiring everyone to put their lives on hold while they are forced to
perform military, homeland security, or community service work as directed
by the whims of the president. This is the final act — the ultimate goals
– of the totalitarian regime now in power. All other legislation prior to
this has been nipping at the heals of our liberty, destroying it by small
bites. But this bill completes the task in one blow, enslaving everyone
without reservation or qualification, making it clear that our lives no
longer belong to us. Instead, we are subservient to the all powerful state
and are nothing more than a resource to be manipulated as our masters see
fit, in service of any purpose that they may choose.

Over the years, our property rights have been effectively destroyed as
the hands of government were allowed to reach deeper and deeper into our
pockets to fund an ever expanding array of programs that we do not endorse.
Our liberty has been drastically curtailed as our freedom of actions
were constrained by the draconian set of regulations imposed upon every
aspect of our personal and business lives. The Bush administration was
instrumental in undermining our right to privacy with the Homeland Security
Act, and during the past year, the Obama administration has launched a
number of initiatives intended to eliminate the right to free speech.
And now, we have the legislation in hand that will shatter our single
remaining right: the right to our life. Should this bill pass, it will be
a stake through the heart of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of
Independence, destroying the final thread of protection that we retain,
with the government asserting total ownership over our persons.

I have writted in detail about this bill at the following link:

http://go-galt.org/Galt_Pledge/JG_Current.html

Feel free to pass along this link to others whom you believe would find it
of interest.

It is my belief that the battle over this legislation is far more important
than anything that has come before. This is the tipping point for freedom
in this country. If we lose this battle, than no course will remain for
liberty-loving people other than armed revolution. Let’s not let it come
to that. We must act loudly, boldly, and forcefully to denounce this
abomination for what it is. Please stand up and proudly proclaim your
right to your own life, to do with it as you — and only you — see fit.
Let the politicians know that you do not recognize their right to one
moment of your existence, and that you consider their even discussing a
bill such as H.R.5741 to be a treasonous action which undermines the entire
intent and purpose of the U.S. Constitution, to which they swore an oath to
uphold.

If America has a unique culture, it is one of creativity and self-reliance,
built upon a solid foundation of individual rights. That cultural ideal
has been under attack for over a century, but never more so than now. As
Ayn Rand wrote, back in 1971, “Don’t let it go!”

Poetry for the 4th

Jul
4

I just posted an article over at Anystreet about how I spent the Fourth of July. I thought I’d take a minute here to post a poem we read our son to commemorate the holiday. Also, here is the most recent work in progress at the MachinePolitick studio.

Happy Independence Day to all!

Paul Revere’s Ride by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Listen my children and you shall hear

Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,

On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;

Hardly a man is now alive

Who remembers that famous day and year.

He said to his friend, “If the British march

By land or sea from the town tonight,

Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch

Of the North Church tower as a signal light,-

One if by land, and two if by sea;

And I on the opposite shore will be,

Ready to ride and spread the alarm

To every Middlesex village and farm,

For the country folk to be up and to arm.”

Then he said “Good night!” and with muffled oar

Silently rowed to the Charlestown shore,

Just as the moon rose over the bay,

Where swinging wide at her moorings lay

The Somerset, British man-of-war;

A phantom ship, with each mast and spar

Across the moon like a prison bar,

And a huge black hulk, that was magnified

by its own reflection in the tide.

Meanwhile, his friend through alley and street

Wanders and watches, with eager ears,

Till in the silence around him he hears

The muster of men at the barrack door,

The sound of arms, and the tramp of feet,

And the measured tread of the grenadiers,

Marching down to their boats on the shore.

Then he climbed the tower of the Old North Church,

By the wooden stairs, with stealthy tread,

To the belfry chamber overhead,

And startled the pigeons from their perch

On the somber rafters, that round him made

Masses and moving shapes of shade,-

By the trembling ladder, steep and tall,

To the highest window in the wall,

Where he paused to listen and look down

A moment on the roofs of the town

And the moonlight flowing over all.

Beneath, in the churchyard, lay the dead,

In their night encampment on the hill,

Wrapped in silence so deep and still

That he could hear, like a sentinel’s tread,

the watchful night-wind as it went

Creeping along from tent to tent,

And seeming to whisper, “All is well!”

A moment only he feels the spell

Of the place and the hour, and the secret dread

Of the lonely belfry and the dead;

For suddenly all his thoughts were bent

On a shadowy something far away,

Where the river widens to meet the bay,-

A line of black that bends and floats

On the rising tide like a bridge of boats.

Meanwhile, impatient to mount and ride,

Booted and spurred, with a heavy stride

On the opposite shore walked Paul Revere.

Now he patted his horse’s side,

Now he gazed at the landscape far and near,

Then impetuous, stamped the earth,

And turned and tightened his saddle girth:

But mostly he watched with eager search

The belfry tower of the Old North Church,

As it rose above the graves on the hill,

Lonely and spectral and somber and still.

And lo! as he looks, on the belfry’s height

A glimmer, and then a gleam of light!

He swings to the saddle, the bridle he turns,

But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight

A second lamp in the belfry burns.

A hurry of hoofs in a village street,

A shape in the moonlight, a bulk in the dark,

And beneath, from the pebbles, in passing, a spark

Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet;

That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light,

The fate of a nation was riding that night;

And the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight,

Kindled the land into flame with its heat.

He has left the village and mounted the steep,

And beneath him, tranquil and broad and deep,

Is the Mystic, meeting the ocean tides;

And under the alders that skirt its edge,

Now soft on the sand, now loud on the ledge,

Is heard the tramp of his steed as he rides.

It was twelve by the village clock

When he crossed the bridge into Medford town.

He heard the crowing of the cock,

And the barking of the farmer’s dog,

And felt the damp of the river fog,

That rises after the sun goes down.

It was one by the village clock,

When he galloped into Lexington.

He saw the gilded weathercock

Swim in the moonlight as he passed,

And the meeting-house windows, black and bare,

Gaze at him with a spectral glare,

As if they already stood aghast

At the bloody mark they would look upon.

It was two by the village clock,

When he came to the bridge in Concord town.

He heard the bleating of the flock,

And the twitter of birds among the trees,

And felt the breath of the morning breeze

Blowing over the meadow brown.

And one was safe and asleep in his bed

Who at the bridge would be first to fall,

Who that day would be lying dead,

Pierced by a British musket ball.

You know the rest. In the books you have read

How the British regulars fired and fled,-

How the farmers gave them ball for ball,

From behind each fence and farmyard wall,

Chasing the redcoats down the lane,

Then crossing the fields to emerge again

Under the trees at the turn of the road,

And only pausing to fire and load.

So through the night rode Paul Revere;

And so through the night went his cry of alarm

To every Middlesex village and farm,-

A cry of defiance, and not of fear,

A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,

And a word that shall echo for evermore!

For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,

Through all our history, to the last,

In the hour of darkness and peril and need,

The people will waken and listen to hear

The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,

And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

A MachinePolitick Fourth of July

Jul
4

I took today of to spend time with my family and divorce myself from the state of the country. I thought it would be nice, for a change, to relax and focus on what makes America great. That’s no small feat for the angry right-wing workaholic artist in me, but I managed.

We slept in today, which is a miracle in a house with a six year old boy and a hungry hound dog. After hanging around the house for a while, we headed over to a Classic Car and Bike show. There were some really sweet cars out today. Some dated from the 20’s and were in great condition. It’s impressive to see that kind of craftsmanship preserved for so long.

I haven’t had much time to work in the garden this year, but we had some fun discoveries this week. I was able to get out there and take some pictures today:

These two pumpkins that will make yummy pies for Halloween and Thanksgiving appeared in the compost we put out on the flowers by the pool. We have also had a bumper crop of Blackberries this year that have started a canning campaign at our house.

Our parsley is now home to a huge population – at least 26 – of striped caterpillars. We think they will be swallowtails when they grow up, but  I haven’t had time to find out.

After swimming in the pool, throwing around the football and grilling our dinner, we sat down for some family time. We had a discussion about the importance of the 4th  and how our Independence was won. My husband read the Declaration of Independence to our son and we answered his questions. After that, he read Paul Revere’s Ride by Longfellow.

We finished the evening watching Bedtime Story, a surprisingly sensible movie, before watching the fireworks from the side of the road near our house. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I recommend it. Adam Sandler actually has a line refusing to read the commie crap in his niece and nephew’s story books. If that doesn’t make you smile, nothing will.

I hope you all had a happy Fourth of July. Here’s the painting I started last week to remind you what we’re fighting for. Thanks for all you do and keep up your quest for Liberty.

Flag Installation, Conservative Art, and the 4th

Jul
3

This photo is from a show I attended recently. Because I have been busy working on the Patriot Pony Project, it got shuffled to the back of my list. I thought, however, that it might have been fitting to post it in honor of the Fourth of July.

My friend Alvaro, pictured here talking to his son, is a very patriotic artist. He has several series of American flags modeled after the work of Jasper Johns. The ones in this photo are a collection of 32 that hang as an installation. It is quite impressive to see, least of all for the impact it has on the Liberal patrons of the gallery. It’s a shame Alvaro doesn’t get more exposure, but that is a consequence of wearing one’s Conservatism openly in the Liberal art community of Atlanta.

I am proud to say I own two flags from a different series, titled “Hope” and “Honor”. They hag below the flag my husband received at his father’s Marine Corps funeral. This Fourth of July, think about the freedoms we still have and thank the people who make it possible. Continue to be active in your pursuit of Liberty, and consider becoming an active member in the Conservative art movement we are building.
