Description:
I think we should address all the opportunities available to us, including drilling. There is no one answer that will solve the problems we face on energy. All sides involved need to work toward a solution, rather than bickering about details. I expect this painting to be the first in a series on domestic energy sources of all kinds.
This specific painting addresses the need to drill domestically now, for oil and natural gas. There is also a need to increase refining capacity. Because there is a limited supply of oil, it is only the first step. The next step is to develop alternative fuels before the oil runs out. Future paintings will address alternative energy issues.
There are several factors affecting the price of oil, which will also be helped by domestic drilling.
These factors are:
1. Increased world supply constraints and increased demand
2. Environmental legislation
3. Lack of domestic refining and drilling capacity
4. The weak dollar
5. Speculation
6. OPEC
7. Terrorism
8. Hurricanes
9. Panic
As always, government regulations exacerbate the issue.
