Description:
This drawing addresses the class warfare and envy so rampant in our culture. Class envy has always been a highly emotional issue for people. It is a tool that politicians and governments use well to achieve their goals. Unfortunately, they have an easy job, because the average person is either too ignorant, lazy, or greedy to see through the scam. Historically, there was a time when people were born into poverty that they couldn't control and were kept there by an aristocracy, abused and enslaved. This is no longer that time, and America is not that place. America, more than any other country, is a place where anyone can improve their situation through hard work and wise decisions.
I'm not addressing Martha's guilt, we know she lied, or the fact that she deserved punishment for her actions. I am addressing the fact that she was convicted solely on the basis that she is a nasty person with plenty of money to spare. She was punished for her personality and wealth by people who had convicted her before the trial began because they hated her and wanted to bring her down to their level.
